I have today ordered and paid for the custom made dice, which I should receive in 5-6 weeks. At the end of October, I will meet the printers and go through the final stages before starting the printing process on these games. In early November we will start making the game boxes (they take the longest time to do). Thereafter we will print the countersheets, maps, etc. By the first half of December, all components for Vol. 1 Winter War game will be printed and ready for assembly, shrink wrap, and delivery. I will send the games on December 16th to all who have made a pre-order for the Vol. 1 Winter War game only, and to all who have ordered the game to be sent separately from any other volume ordered. This means that most of you will have the game by Christmas. Vol. 2 & 3 will be printed pretty much simultaneously as Vol. 1, but they will not be assembled and delivered until January/February 2014.
I want to point out that since the number of pre-orders received is rather low (currently 279) and I don’t want to, or dare to, borrow more money than what I already have and will do; the print run will be very low (with no profit). I feel that I cannot and want not wait any longer with the printing. Hopefully sometimes in the future I can do a bigger print run.
An average calculation (before talking to the printers) is to print:
400 x Vol. 1 Winter War games
320 x Vol. 2 Continuation War games
280 x Vol. 3 Lapland War expansions
Another story is that I have a plan to print a revised Master Rules Manual in a year or two, which will cost nothing to order, except for the postage cost (also downloadable for free from my website). This is because these monstergames would actually need more playtesting to cover every minor situation in play. Sorry!
PS. Mikugames will not co-operate with any other game company in the making of The Finnish Trilogy. One reason is that there is hardly any profit on these games due to their current low price in comparison to the amount of material they include.
